Dear Bryan,
Sorry about your disappearing links. But they were links to nowhere. Please let me know anytime I can help.
Real witches are too clever to be burned. 😉 Good one.

She’s about to find out! I expect even in these “enlightened” days, a mob may do any kind of barbaric mayhem.

How many witches were burnt at the stake in the great witch hunts of old? None, because witches don’t exist. Or do they….? Nice take.

Maybe today she would be called a quack and not a witch….

I wonder if they are not the same thing?

Silly! nobody uses that barbaric tactic of burning witches anymore…they dissolve them in acid. Okay, yeah she should run… 😉

She’d be well advised to flee – mobs are the same in any century.

I’m afraid “they” do indeed burn witches–usually with words in the news and social media, and witches that have been so-labeled in order that they might be burned. Some things never change.

Delightful last line… Keeps the reader guessing. Nicely done.

They don’t burn witches. First, they brand you one and then they do what they want to do with you. Everyday we hear tales of such horrific barbarism, not just from the far off villages but also from the most ‘modern’ cities of the world. Excellent last line.

I wonder why witches never formulated a potion against mobs. Your story did touch a raw nerve. So, well-done!

I can see her, skulking. A modern day witch, misunderstood. Nice take on the prompt, Mr Intrepid Optimist.
